LI: To Understand how volcanoes are formed

This week our task was to create an information poster about the different types of volcanoes, and what a volcano is.  A volcano is a large mountain with a crater, where the lava explodes out of. When a volcano erupts it shoots out lava intensely and destroyed anything in its way.  We learnt about how the different types of volcanoes form and how it explodes in a different way. (Cone/Composite, Dome, Shield, and Caldera)

3 facts about Mount Matavanu

LI: To Analyse and Evaluate the Impact of the Volcanic Eruption on the People and the Cities 

This week we were tasked from our teachers to make a google video about facts 3 about Mount Matavanu.

First we were given a google doc about living on a lava flow. We skimmed and scanned through the story .

Then in separate groups we answered the following questions using information from the text and commenting on the questions to answer them.

Lastly we made a google video for three facts about Mount Matavanu and recorded our voices on a script to make the final project.

 

 

Diary of WW1

LI: To recount a historical story from the past through fictional eyes of someone who was there

We have been looking at the events that took place at ANZAC Cove on 25 April 1915, during WW1. Many ANZAC soldiers got wounded or died during the war. We went through some videos showing what life was like in the trenches and read Hami grace’s diary to help us write diary entries in ww1. We used video recordings to record our diary entries. 

 I enjoyed using this as it allowed me to picture what it was like in the past and how it was like in the trenches.

Something I found interesting about this was that, I learnt what happened during ww1 and how the soldiers reflected their recounts in their diary.

Time Travelers Podcast ft Samuel Marsden

Today in LS2 we did Literacy and Inquiry. Our task was to create a Podcast with Samuel Marsden who was a Missionary in the 1820’s. One of us was pretending to be Samuel Marsden and the others were asking questions about what he did. It was fun to do and it was also interesting because we learnt new things during the podcast.

I learnt how podcasts work and how easy it was to do.

What Learning Should Look Like in LS2

LI: To co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2

  • Our challenge today was to co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2. We thought about what we expected to happen so we could make the most of our learning time then thought about what our teachers expected.
  • I collaborated with my group which I enjoyed because it was intresting to talk about what some good expectations were.
  • This activity was to make expectations for learning because, so that there is a positive way of learning.

 

About Me | Ko Wai Ahau

Salam, my name is Marwan and I am excited to be a year 7 at PBS because I have great teachers and have exciting trips coming up. My favourite thing to do is I like playing online games and I also like playing Basketball. My favourite subject is Maths because I like to work things out because it is interesting.

My goal for this year is to get better at maths, and build up my confidence and finish all my work on time.

Transformation

For Maths I learnt about Transformation, there are three types and they are : Translation, Reflection and Rotation. I made a poster explaining what each of them mean and showing an example of it too. Translation means that it moves in one direction. Reflection means that it shows mirror side. Lastly rotation means that it moves something around in points.

Duffy Show 1

PBS went to the duffy show in our school assembly

Duffy was talking about space when his cousin stuffy came over to stay for a day. Then stuffy scrubbed his nose with his sleeve and Duffy was disgust. Then stuffy sneezed out loud and duffy got frightend.

Duffy went to sleep, but he couldn’t sleep because he didn’t feel like to. Then stuffy came in and said that he was too scared to sleep on his own so he wanted to sleep with duffy. Duffy said if he and him wanted to make a fort and stuffy got exited to make one.

After they made one they both went to bed and duffy read a book about planets in space and when duffy was reading it he started to yawn and then fell asleep. To be continued
