LI: To use Google My Maps to show the migratory flight path of the Kuaka.
For this task we had to map the migration of the Kuaka bird/the Bar Tailed Godwit. We measured the distance and lined up each place where the Kuaka bird would rest and keep going on the journey. The place where they would rest, eat, sleep, and breed.
LI: To create an infographic that tells others about the migration of the Kuaka
Something interesting I found out about the Kuaka was that it stops for a rest somewhere in Asia, and they travel super far just to breed.
From this DLO I can see that the Kuaka’s habitat is the wet lands and it likes to stay near water.
This week we practised answering questions about a text. We learned how to find important words in the question and look in the text for the answer. We also learned to cross out wrong answers and pick the best one. This helps us understand what we read better.
For Reading Group Hau’ofa read a story called the “The Way to Play”. For the task we had to write the similarities and differences on our park and the story’s park. Lastly we had to make our own dream park.
I enjoyed this task because I could design my own dream park. I did well on writing the similatities and differences. I need to improve on making my drawing on Chromebook better.
For week nine We Researched about Matariki and the nine stars.
For week 3 we learnt about Procedural texts and for week four we explained what a procedural Text was. An procedural text is a text that teaches you how to make something. Examples are recipes, instruction manual, game instructions and experiments.
I enjoyed decorating and tracing my procedural Text poster. I did well at tracing my picture. I need to improve on including more detail.
I have been practicing my independent reading skills and completed an SSR selfie.
A SSR selfie is where you read independently for 15 minutes.
In Reading I made a Comic Strip about the Rainbow Fish.
First I had to read the story book about the Rainbow Fish.
Next I made a copy of the Comic Strip and added parts of the story to it.
Lastly I added Pictures to my Comic Strip.
I enjoyed this task because I like reading books.
I did well on adding the pictures.
I need to improve on making the story even more intresting.
In Reading I did literal questions.
First I had to read the story that Miss White wrote.
Next I had to answer the questions based on the story. I had read three stories and answered 5 questions for each.
Lastly I had to create my own story and my own answers. I had to add my own story to the large google slide document.
I did well on answering my questions. I enjoyed this task because I got to write my own story.
I learnt about why Palm Oil is bad for the environment.
First Miss White told us about what palm oil is and what it has done to the environment.
Next we did a slide that contains different questions about palm oil.
Lastly I had to blog my work and publish it.
