Significant Figures

LI: To Identify Significant Figures

For maths group 1’s task was to solve and have a better understand of what Significant Figures are. We went through the given questions as a group and after we created a DLO showing how Sig.Fig work. Significant figures are the important number’s in a number that show a easier way to show how precise a measurement is.

LCM

For maths our task was to answer the questions about LCM (Lowest Common Multiples). To get a lowest common you need to have two numbers and work out all of the number they can multiply into, and when you find a first match between multiples, then that is the lowest common factor of the both of the tables.

Social Influence

LI: How to identify the difference between positive and negative social influence

For Inquiry this week we have discussed as a class, what is “social Influence” and understand how to identify the difference between positive and negative social influence.

We also dug deeper into “Normative Influence” which means doing things to fit in and “Informational Influence”, is the things we do because we think others know more than us.

Something we found interesting was that social influence can really have a big affect on people.

Rounding

LI: How to round up numbers to the billions place values and three decimal places

For maths our task was to solve rounding equations and learn how rounding works. We explored how rounding works and learnt as a group. Our teacher explained that rounding means changing a number to the nearest ten, hundred, or another place value to make it easier to work with. After learning the rules, we went through some questions together to get a better understanding of rounding.

Prime and Composite Numbers

This week me and Group 1 in maths did prime and composite numbers, we had 23 questions about prime and composite, then when we were done we made a DlO about our work and this is the prompt that we used,

A prime number is a whole number which is only divisible by itself and one. A prime number only has 2 factors and if an number does have more than two, it is a composite number. For example : 5 is an prime number because 1×5 = 5 and there are no other factors. The first and only even prime number is “2”. other factors except 1 and 5.

Division Algorithm

LI: How to calculate the quotient of whole numbers using algorithm

This week our group learnt how to solve division problems and find out how to get the quotient (answer). We first went through the steps of how to divide and where the dividend and divisor goes and how we put it in the division bracket. After we worked through the questions in pairs and marked our work at the end.

Multiplication Algorithm

LI: To Calculate the product using whole numbers

For maths our group learnt about multiplication algorithm, we used our knowledge and thinking skills to multiply the numbers and add our numbers at the end to get our product. After we made a DLO explaining how to use multiplication algorithm and how placeholders work.

Subtraction Algorithm

This week our main focus in maths was subtraction using algorithms, so we could get a deeper understanding of it. To do subtraction algorithm it is harder to understand but once you get the hang of it is flawless. Have  a look at the DLO me and my group made to help people get a better and deeper understanding!
